Ariana Grande Not Attending the 2019 Grammys After Producers ‘Insulted’ Her

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande will not attend the 2019 Grammy Awards due to a disagreement with producers over a potential performance at the ceremony. Grande is nominated to a couple of awards: Best Pop Vocal Album for “Sweetener” and Best Pop Solo Performance for “God Is a Woman”.

Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich said the show had multiple conversations with Ariana Grande about possibly performing on the Grammy Awards, and he said that over the last month when they got to a point where the Show thought that the singer may agree to perform, he addressed that at the end Ariana Grande “felt it was too late for her to pull something together,”. Grande did not wait long to respond to Ehrlich public comments and accused him of lying, she responded on Twitter today, saying “i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me.” She also said that she “can pull together a performance overnight and you know that, Ken.”

While Grande is nominated for her 2018 work, Variety reports that the singer wanted to perform her 2019 hit “7 Rings”, the latest single from her new album “Thank U, Nex” that is arriving two days before the Grammys), as part of the Grammy ceremony. Producers requested that she could perform  “7 Rings” and a song of the producers’ choosing. Grande felt “insulted” by the producers’ request because this requirement was not imposed on any other performers at the show. Because of this, she decided that she will not perform nor will go to the Grammys at all, even though she is featured in billboards that are advertising the event.

Taylor Swift has said that she won’t be going to the Grammys as well because she has a conflict with her agenda, since she is filming a movie called Cats.

It looks like there is a trend among music starts to skip the Grammys, Kanye West and Drake, have missed previous Grammy awards too.
