Nick Jonas is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He was born in Dallas, Texas, the son of Denise (née Miller) and Paul Kevin Jonas. Jonas’ father is a songwriter, musician, and former ordained minister at an Assemblies of God church. His mother is a former sign language teacher and singer. Nick has a younger brother, Frankie, and two older brothers – Joe and Kevin. He was raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey and homeschooled by his mother.
At the age of seven he began he career in in theater (performing on Broadway). Released his first single in 2002. His second album came out in 2004 with little success. Soon after that second album he formed a band with his older brothers, Kevin and Joe, known as Jonas Brothers. Thy released their first album “It’s About Time” in 2006. The album received little backing from the label, who had no further interest in promoting the band. Considering the way, the launch of the new album was handled by the labels, it was no surprised that the band wanted to depart from Columbia Records and find a new label. Shortly after, the Jonas Brothers had signed with Hollywood Records. While working on their new album, the group continued to gain popularity due to soundtrack appearances and promotional appearances.
It was not until they released their second group album in 2007, that they achieved commercial success. The group released their second album through Hollywood Records on August, 2007. The album entered the top five of the Billboard 200 in the United States, going on to sell over two million copies in the country. The group’s single “S.O.S.” became their first top twenty hit on the Billboard Hot 100, and has sold over 1.5 million copies in the country.
Nick and his brothers made their acting debut on an August 2007 episode of the Disney series Hannah Montana titled “Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas”. The band performed the collaboration “We Got the Party” with lead actress Miley Cyrus, with the episode gaining over ten million viewers and became basic cable’s most watched series telecast ever. After this the band became prominent figures on the Disney Channel, they appeared in the Television film Camp Rock (2008) and its sequel Camp Rock 2. The Final Jam (2010) and their own series: Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008-2010) and Jonas (2009-2010).
The band’s third album, A Little Bit Longer (2008); the album’s lead single “Burnin’ Up” hit the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their fourth album, hit the list on the Billboard 200 chart, but saw a decline in record sales. After this fourth album the Jonas Brothers confirmed a hiatus.
With the Jonas Brothers officially broken up, Jonas began working on what would be his second album. He worked as the musical and creative director on Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour (2014). Jonas appeared in two more episodes of Hawaii Five-O, and was cast in a starring role as Nate Kulina in the drama series Kingdom.
Jonas made his return to music with the release of “Chains” (2014), the lead single to his second album. The single failed to achieve success after its release. “Jealous” (2014) was later released as the album’s second single, which was Nick’s first top ten hit as a solo artist on the Billboard Hot 100. Jonas released his second album, Nick Jonas (2014). The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200. Following the success of “Jealous” and the album, “Chains” was re-released as the next single from the album. The single achieved commercial success, reaching the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming his second multi-platinum single.
Jonas served as a guest mentor for Christina Aguilera on the eighth season of The Voice. He also starred in the film Careful What You Wish For (2015), which he filmed in 2013. Jonas formed the “artist-centric” Safehouse Records alongside Demi Lovato and Phil McIntyre, in conjunction with Island and Hollywood Records. Jonas released a new single, “Levels” (2015), through the label as the lead single to the re-released version of his debut album, Nick Jonas X2 (2015).
“Last Year Was Complicated” was released on June 2016 and achieved the number two position on the Billboard 200 in its first week. This marks his highest peaking effort as a solo artist to date. “Bacon” (2016) has been serviced as the second single from the album.
On May, 2017, Jonas released the single “Remember I Told You”. Jonas released the song “Find You” on September, 2017. He contributed to the Ferdinand soundtrack with the song “Home”, released on October 20. The song was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. In August 2018, Jonas joined the cast of the animated film Ugly Dolls alongside Kelly Clarkson and Pitbull, which will be released on May 10, 2019.
Jonas was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was thirteen years old and uses an insulin pump to help him manage his condition. Since then, he founded the Change for the Children Foundation and has been involved in several activities to promote awareness on Diabetes.
He proposed to Indian actress Priyanka Chopra in London on her birthday on July 18, 2018. Nick and Priyanka got married on December 1, at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.
